Under the influence of Maker Movement, this project started with a study of ruled surface and also a series of rigorous experiments to construct hyperboloids with laser cut plywood strips, which was called “timberboloid”. In order to optimise the structure, a reciprocal system was developed which could create curved surfaces with short members with improved material efficiency.
